I've been on a Tim Berne kick. His music breaks many windows, if you know what I mean. I drift over thoughts of myself and a few other filthy musicians rolling from town to town, in a van as beat up as our credit, splattering such melodic fragments over the earth.
The gusto!
To bring myself down to earth, I purchased some graph paper to satiate my ultra-formalist tendencies. I'm imagining a kind of fractal piece, where the greater form is equal to the lesser sections, in an ever changing, unpredictable way. I've also been fascinated with making music out of living programs - the kind that model the evolution of life. Much research is to be done!
My mantra these days: Daddy Longlegs of the Evening: Hope!
Brooklyn based, Floridian avant-garde musician John Dunlap guides you through the harrowing corridors of his thinking apparatus with perplexing images, beautiful music, half drunk musings, and poorly written poetry.
